Why Scan QR Codes

Scanning QR codes with your phone is the fastest way to access locations, forms, documents, or work orders in CalmCompliance—no searching or navigating menus. Point your camera at a QR code and you're taken directly to that item, where you can view documents, complete forms, or perform other actions. Most phones can scan QR codes with the built-in camera app; no CalmCompliance app required. If your organization has disabled public scanning, you'll need to sign in before accessing content.

How to Scan a QR Code

Using Your Phone's Camera (Recommended)

  1. Open your phone's camera app (the standard Camera app on iPhone or Android)

  2. Point the camera at the QR code—hold your phone steady about 6–12 inches away so the code fits in the frame

  3. Tap the notification that appears (iPhone: yellow banner at top; Android: popup with the link)

  4. Your browser opens CalmCompliance at the scanned item

No app to install—this works with your built-in camera.

Using CalmCompliance's In-App Scanner

If you're already logged in on your phone:

  1. Open CalmCompliance and navigate to your organization and site

  2. Tap the QR Scanner icon (in the top menu or quick access area)

  3. Allow camera access when prompted

  4. Point the camera at the QR code—the scanner detects and processes it automatically

Use this when you're scanning multiple codes in a row; you stay within CalmCompliance.

Before You Start

You need a smartphone or tablet with a camera and an internet connection (Wi‑Fi or cellular). The QR code must be printed or displayed and generated by CalmCompliance. If public scanning is disabled, you'll see Sign In Required—tap Sign In, enter your credentials, and you'll be taken to the scanned item after signing in.

Common Questions

Do I need the CalmCompliance app to scan?

No. Most phones scan QR codes with the built-in camera app. The in-app scanner is optional for convenience.

Can I scan QR codes offline?

No. Scanning requires an internet connection to load the content.

The QR code won't scan—what do I do?

Check that the code isn't damaged or dirty, lighting is adequate, and you're 6–12 inches away. QR codes smaller than 25mm × 25mm may not scan reliably—print a larger version. If your camera app doesn't support QR scanning, update your phone or use a third-party scanner app.

What if I get "Authentication Required"?

Public scanning is disabled for your organization. Sign in to CalmCompliance before scanning, or ask your administrator if public scanning should be enabled.
