Why Audit History

The audit log records who did what and when across your site—document changes, form updates, user actions, and more. It helps you trace changes for compliance, investigate issues, and understand how your team uses CalmCompliance. When auditors ask "who approved this?" or "when was that document updated?", the audit log gives you the answer.

How to View Audit History

  1. Go to Settings > Audit Log

  2. The audit log shows a table with Timestamp, Action, and Actor (who performed the action)

  3. Each row describes a specific event—for example, "Document created" or "Form template published"

  4. Scroll down to load more entries; the list loads in batches as you scroll

  5. Click Filters to narrow by action type—select one or more action types (e.g. document.created, tag.created) to see only those events

  6. Click Clear to remove filters and show all events again

Before You Start

You need the Admin role for your site to view the audit log. If you don't see Audit Log under Settings, you have Member or Manager access. Contact your site administrator to request Admin access.

Common Questions

What actions are recorded? The audit log records actions across documents, forms, risks, issues, locations, tags, users, and more—creates, updates, deletes, approvals, and other significant changes. Each event type has a label (e.g. "Document created") and shows who performed it and when.

How far back does the audit log go? The audit log retains entries according to your organization's data retention policy. Scroll or filter to find older events.

Can I export the audit log? Export options depend on your plan. If you need a copy for compliance or investigation, contact your administrator or CalmCompliance support.

Why do I see "System" as the actor? Some actions are performed automatically by the system (e.g. scheduled tasks, integrations). On the organization-level audit log in admin, you can hide system actor entries with the "Hide system actor logs" toggle.
