Add an assessment to a training course
Training courses can include an assessment quiz that learners must complete as part of the course flow. You can set a pass mark, limit the number of attempts, and review each learner’s scores and attempt history afterward. This is different from a quiz used in a distribution: course assessments have pass marks, attempt limits, and full attempt history.
Before you start
You need Manager or Admin access to the Training module to edit courses and review assessment results.
The quiz used for a course assessment can be created during setup or chosen from existing quizzes. See Quizzes for how quizzes are built and edited.
Enable an assessment on a course
Go to Training > Courses and open the course you want to edit
Click the assessment section or toggle to enable the course assessment
Select an existing quiz or create a new one for this course
Set the pass mark and the attempt limit
Save the course settings
The assessment is now part of the course flow. Learners will see it as a step they must complete before they can finish the course.
What learners see
When a learner takes a course with an assessment enabled, the quiz appears as a step in the course flow. The learner answers the questions and submits their attempt. If a pass mark is set, the learner must meet or exceed it to complete the assessment. If attempt limits are set, the learner can only retry up to the configured number of times.
Review learner attempts and scores
Go to Training > Courses and open the course with the assessment
Open the assessment review or attempt history for the course
View each learner’s attempts, scores, and whether they passed or failed
This gives you a complete record of learner performance for audit and compliance purposes.
Common questions
Can I change the pass mark or attempt limit after learners have started? Yes. Open the course settings and adjust the assessment configuration. Changes apply to new attempts; existing attempts keep their original scores.
What happens if a learner uses all their attempts? The learner cannot submit additional attempts once the attempt limit is reached. Their last score is recorded as their final result.
Can I delete a quiz that is used in a course assessment? No. If a quiz is linked to a course assessment, you must remove it from the course first or replace it with another quiz before it can be deleted.
