Record a body map in an incident investigation
Use the body map in an incident investigation to record exactly where injuries occurred. The body map is part of the Medical Update step type, which you add to the investigation timeline.
Who can do this
Only users with the Incident module Manager or Admin role can view the investigation timeline and add a Medical Update step. Members can report incidents but cannot view or record investigation steps.
For a full breakdown of roles, see Incidents roles and access.
How to add a body map
Open the incident detail page.
Scroll to the Investigation section and select Record Step.
Choose Medical Update from the list of step types.
Fill in the medical details:
Presenting Issues — what symptoms or injuries were observed.
Body Location — select the area on the body map where the injury occurred. You can select multiple locations if needed.
Person Type — whether the affected person was a staff member, pupil, visitor, or other.
Outcome — the result of the medical assessment, such as first aid given, referred to hospital, or sent home.
Treatment Given — describe any treatment provided.
Notes — any additional context.
Save the step.
What appears in the timeline
After saving, the Medical Update appears in the investigation timeline with a timestamp and the person who recorded it. The timeline entry shows the body map selections alongside the other fields you entered. You can delete the step from the timeline if needed, but deleted steps cannot be recovered.
