Share risks content with child sites
Open child sites can use eligible Risks content from ancestor sites. Ordinary risk assessments and categories use share-down defaults; templates, risk sets, hazardous materials, and equipment profiles use per-record Share with Child Sites controls.
Before content can inherit
Inherited Risks content appears on a child site only when the child is Open and the parent has made the content eligible to share. Sealed child sites stay own-site only.
Set Cascade Mode on each site in Settings > Organisation. See Cascade Mode for sites.
Ordinary risk assessments
Open child sites show their own assessments plus eligible published assessments from ancestors. Drafts and assessments pending approval never cascade.
Site default for assessments
On a parent site with child sites, set the default under Risk Settings.
Go to Settings > Risks.
Open the Options tab.
Turn Share Assessments with Child Sites on or off.
Click Save Changes.
When on, uncategorised assessments and assessments in categories that follow the site default may appear in open child sites. Categories can override this setting. The control appears when cascade is available and the site has child sites. Changing these options requires Site Manager or Site Admin access. The share-down default is on unless you turn it off.
Category sharing for assessments
In Settings > Risks > Categories, category sharing uses the same two controls as Documents:
Share This Category — child sites may use the category on their own assessments.
Share the Content in This Category — choose Use the Site Default (on) or Use the Site Default (off), Share, or Don't Share.
Sharing the category for children to file under is separate from sharing the assessments already filed in it. The content-share control appears only while the category is shared for use. New categories start on the site default for content sharing. Managers and Admins manage Risks categories.
What child-site users can do with inherited assessments
Inherited assessments are read-only in the child site. Ownership stays with the ancestor site.

Inherited rows are labelled Inherited from followed by the ancestor site name.
Filter own and inherited assessments
On an open child site with a parent, the assessments list can show an Ownership filter:
All — own plus eligible inherited assessments (default).
This Site Only — assessments owned by the active site.
Inherited Only — eligible inherited assessments only.
Risk templates and risk sets
Templates and risk sets use per-record sharing, not the ordinary assessment category cascade.
On the parent template or set, use Share with Child Sites so open descendant sites can see it.
When enabled, child sites can access that template or set from their own site.
Open child sites see shared templates and sets alongside their own records. Sealed child sites see only their own.
Shared templates and sets are read-only in the child site. Edit and delete stay on the owning site.
A child-site user can create a new assessment from a shared template. The new assessment is owned by the active child site and still requires create access on that child site.
Inherited template and set rows use the Inherited from label with the source site name. Managers and Admins create templates and manage risk sets; see Risks roles and access.
Hazardous materials
Open child sites see their own materials plus materials ancestors have shared. Sealed sites stay own-only.
On create or edit, parents with child sites can set Share with Child Sites.
Newly created hazardous materials are shared with child sites by default. Turn sharing off on a material when child sites should not see it.
Inherited materials are read-only in the child site. Child-owned assessments can still link a visible inherited material by reference without copying the register row.
Open child registers can use the Ownership filter: All, This Site Only, or Inherited Only.
Inherited rows show Inherited from and the source site name. Share status can show as Shared with Child Sites with Yes or No.

Equipment risk profiles
Open child sites see their own equipment risk profiles plus shared ancestor profiles. Sealed sites stay own-only.
On create or edit, parents with child sites can set Share with Child Sites.
Newly created equipment risk profiles are shared with child sites by default.
Inherited profiles are read-only in the child site. Child-owned assessments can link a visible inherited profile by reference without copying it.
Open child registers can use the Ownership filter: All, This Site Only, or Inherited Only.
Inherited rows show Inherited from and the source site name. Share status can show as Shared with Child Sites with Yes or No.

When inherited risks content stops appearing
Content appears on a child site only while the child is open and the record remains eligible to share. Sealed sites never show inherited Risks content. If a linked material or equipment profile is no longer visible, the assessment shows that the linked record is unavailable rather than copying parent data onto the child site.
