Add PPE requirements to a risk assessment
Add a PPE requirements section to a risk assessment to record required personal protective equipment from a controlled ISO 7010 pick-list. Each PPE block can contain any combination of 11 predefined requirements, optional notes, and its own title and description. PPE blocks do not affect the risk score or colour band. PPE sections can also be created automatically when you generate a risk assessment from a hazardous material that has PPE requirements or notes. The pre-populated block uses the material's PPE data and defaults its title to PPE Required.
Before you start
You need at least the Member role for the Risks module to add, edit, or delete PPE sections on a draft assessment. Published and historical versions are read-only. For role details, see Risks roles and access.
Add a PPE requirements section
Open the draft assessment.
Click Add Section.
Choose PPE.
The section is added to the bottom of the page and opens in edit mode. Enter a Title and optional Description, then click Save.
In the PPE requirements body, click the requirements that apply. The options are Head Protection, Eye Protection, Ear Protection, Respiratory Protection, Face Mask, Face Protection, Hand Protection, Foot Protection, Protective Clothing, High-Visibility Clothing, and Fall Protection (Safety Harness). You can select any combination.
Add any optional notes in the Notes field. Use this for detail such as respirator rating or glove type.
Click Save.
Edit a PPE section
In the section header, click the edit control.
Update the Title and Description, or click into the body to change the selected requirements and notes.
Click Save. Click Cancel to discard changes.
Delete a PPE section
In the section header, click the delete control.
Confirm the dialog. The confirmation shows Delete PPE Block with a Delete Block button.
How PPE sections behave on published versions
PPE sections are read-only on published and historical versions. You can view the selected requirements, pictograms, and notes, but you cannot edit them. To make changes, create a new draft from the published version.
How PPE sections appear in print and export
Full PDF and browser print output list PPE sections in the order they appear on the assessment page. Each PPE block prints its title, optional description, selected requirements as pictograms paired with their labels, and any notes when present.
PPE blocks are not included in the Excel Workbook export. The Excel export includes an overview sheet, a People & Groups sheet when entries exist, and a data sheet for each Matrix Section.
