Customize risk assessment summary widgets
On a structured risk assessment, use the optional summary area above the content sections to show selected score, task, and people widgets. Authors add widgets with Add Widget, then remove or reorder them on editable assessments.
Before you start
You need at least the Member role for the Risks module to add, remove, or reorder summary widgets on an editable assessment. Published, awaiting-approval, and learner views show selected widgets without curation controls. PDF assessments do not support summary widgets. For role details, see Risks roles and access.
Add a summary widget
Open an editable structured assessment, then add widgets from the summary area above the sections.
Go to Risks and open the assessment.
In the summary area above the content sections, click Add Widget.
Optionally search the list, then choose a widget.
The widget appears in the summary area in the order you add it. Each widget kind can be selected only once. Already selected widgets show as Already added and cannot be added again.
New assessments start with no summary widgets. When none are selected, readers see no summary heading or placeholder.
Available widgets
The picker offers these widgets when their prerequisites are met:
Risk Overview β maximum, average, and mitigated score roll-ups from scored hazard items (Max Risk, Max Mitigated, Avg Risk, Avg Mitigated, plus mitigation reduction). Requires at least one scored risk item.
Highest Risks β the assessmentβs highest-scoring risk items with risk bands. Requires at least one scored risk item. On the assessment page, selecting an item opens that risk item.
Risk Matrix β severity and likelihood grid showing how many hazards sit in each score cell. Requires at least one scored risk item.
Risk Level Distribution β how many hazards fall into each risk band. Requires at least one scored risk item.
Risk Matrix and Distribution β the matrix and risk-band counts in one view. Requires at least one scored risk item.
Tasks β counts for Overdue, Open, Due Soon, and Done for assessment-linked tasks. Requires at least one linked task.
People Impacted β people and group totals, with a role breakdown for people. Requires at least one person or group.
Widgets that are not yet available appear disabled with a reason, such as needing a scored risk item, a linked task, or a person or group first.
Score-based widgets β Risk Overview, Highest Risks, Risk Matrix, Risk Level Distribution, and Risk Matrix and Distribution β count only scored Matrix Section hazards. Risk Register hazards are unscored and do not contribute to these widgets or their prerequisite of at least one scored risk item. The Tasks and People Impacted widgets include hazards from both Matrix Sections and Risk Registers.
Reorder or remove a widget
On an editable assessment, use the controls on each selected widget.
To change order, use the up or down control on the widget. Widget order is independent of section order, and reordering widgets does not move sections.
To remove a widget, use the remove control on that widget and confirm with Remove Widget.
Removing a widget only clears it from the summary. It does not delete hazards, tasks, people, or other assessment content.
If a selected widget no longer has content to show on an editable assessment, it stays in the summary with an empty-state message until you remove it or the underlying data returns.
What readers see
Published, awaiting-approval, learner, and other non-editable views show the selected widgets in the configured order, without Add Widget, remove, or reorder controls. If no selected widgets can render, the summary area is hidden.
Templates, duplicates, and versions
Widget selection and order stay with the assessment version and are copied when you:

Blank assessments created from scratch start with no widgets. For draft and publish steps, see Working with risk assessment versions.
Print and PDF output
Full PDF and print output include the same selected widgets, in the same order, above the assessment sections. Export output is non-interactive. See Export or download a risk assessment.
