Set up roles and attestation for a draft requirement

Standards module admins configure roles and attestation on individual draft requirements from the Draft Standard page. Roles define who can be assigned accountability when a site adopts the standard, and attestation sets how often the requirement must be reviewed.

Before you start

You need the Admin role for the Standards module. Open the Draft Standard page from the Standards Library and select a trackable requirement in the tree. Section headers cannot be configured with roles or attestation.

Configure roles

Each trackable requirement can define up to 10 roles. The Owner role is required and is created automatically when the Roles section is empty.

  1. In the requirement details, open the Roles section.

  2. Review the Owner role. Its role key is fixed and cannot be removed, but you can edit its label.

  3. To add another role, click the add control. Enter a Role Key of 32 characters or fewer using only lowercase letters, numbers, and underscores. Then enter a Label of 100 characters or fewer.

  4. Under Allowed Party Types, choose at least one option: User, Person, Company, Person From Company, or Group.

  5. Repeat for each additional role, up to 10 total.

  6. Click Save Roles.

Configure attestation

Attestation adds a recurring review interval to a trackable requirement. It applies only to trackable requirements, not section headers.

  1. In the requirement details, open the Attestation section.

  2. Enable Require Periodic Attestation.

  3. Choose a Review Interval such as 3 months, 6 months, 12 months, or 1 Year.

  4. Click Save Attestation.

What happens next

When a site adopts the standard, the defined roles appear as assignment slots and the attestation interval becomes the default review schedule. To map a draft requirement to an existing review policy or create one after adoption, see Set up attestation review for a standard requirement. For the full draft authoring workflow, see Authoring Standard Definitions.

To assign role holders on an adopted requirement, see Assign roles to a requirement.
