Configure contract settings
Set how contract comments, email replies, and child-site sharing behave under Settings > Contracts on the Options tab. Anyone with Contracts module access can view the settings; saving changes requires Site Manager access.
Open Contract Settings
Contract Settings has two tabs: "Categories" and "Options". The Categories tab controls the category list available on contracts and is covered in Set up contract categories. The Options tab controls comment behavior and sharing defaults.
Go to Settings > Contracts.
Open the Options tab.
Without Site Manager access you can read the settings but not change them. Site Manager access is required to save changes.
Change the comment options
Three options control how contract comments work by email, in notifications, and between users. "Allow Inbound Email Comments" and "Include Comment Text in Notifications" are on by default; "Restrict Comment Viewing" is off by default.
"Allow Inbound Email Comments" lets users create comment threads and reply to comments by email for contracts. Turn it off to block email comments.
"Include Comment Text in Notifications" includes the full comment text in email notifications. Turn it off to leave comment text out of comment and mention email notifications.
"Restrict Comment Viewing" means standard users can only view comment threads they have posted. Contracts Managers and Contracts Admins can always view all comments.
Go to Settings > Contracts and open the Options tab.
Turn "Allow Inbound Email Comments" on or off.
Turn "Include Comment Text in Notifications" on or off.
Turn "Restrict Comment Viewing" on or off.
Click "Save Changes".
The "Save Changes" and "Cancel" buttons appear only after you change a setting. If saving fails, you see "Failed to update contract settings".
For how comment visibility works on records generally, see the Comments article.
Share contracts with child sites
Sites with child sites can set a default for sharing contracts downward. When on, contracts that follow the site default may appear in open child sites, and an individual contract can override this setting. The option starts on.
Go to Settings > Contracts and open the Options tab.
Turn "Share Contracts with Child Sites" on or off.
Click "Save Changes".
The "Share Contracts with Child Sites" option only appears when your site has child sites.
Override the default on an individual contract
The contract form has a "Share with Child Sites" field when your site has child sites. Choose one of three options:
"Use the Site Default (on)" or "Use the Site Default (off)", depending on the current site default
"Share"
"Don't Share"
"Use the Site Default" follows the setting on the Options tab. "Share" and "Don't Share" apply to that contract whatever the site default says.
What child sites see
A contract shared with a child site is read-only there. The contract's details show a notice that names the owning site and says it is read-only on the child site. Editing, deleting, and commenting are all unavailable on the child site, and renewal decisions can only be changed on the owning site.
