Set how work schedules handle non-working days

When a recurring or calendar-based work schedule lands on a weekend, holiday, or other blocked day, you can choose whether the work moves to the next working day, skips that occurrence, or stays on the original date.

Before you start

You need Manager or Admin access to the Operations module to edit schedules.

Choose the behavior for blocked days

  1. Open the work schedule you want to change and go to the recurrence or working-days section.

  2. Find the option that controls how the schedule behaves on non-working or blocked days.

  3. Select the behavior that matches how your site operates:

    • Move to the next working day β€” pushes the work order to the next available day. For example, a weekly check that falls on Saturday moves to Monday.

    • Skip the occurrence β€” leaves that date empty and waits for the next scheduled interval. For example, a monthly check that falls on a public holiday skips that month entirely.

    • Allow work on the blocked day β€” keeps the original date even if it is a weekend or holiday. For example, a daily check that lands on Sunday stays on Sunday.

  4. Save the schedule and review the updated summary to confirm the next due dates reflect your choice.

The days that count as blocked come from your site’s Working Week and any closure calendars. To change which weekdays are allowed, see Set the weekdays for planned work.

What happens next

Future work orders will follow the new rule. Existing work orders already created on blocked days are not moved or removed automatically.
