Update adoption parameters for a standard

You can change the adoption parameters of an already-adopted standard from its detail page. The edit flow shows a preview of the impact and asks you to confirm if any previously out-of-scope requirements would return to scope.

Before you start

You need the Manager or Admin role for the Standards module at the site.

Open the adoption settings

  1. Go to the standard detail page for the adopted standard you want to update.

  2. In the Details sidebar, find the Adoption Parameters section.

  3. Open the adoption settings editor. The page shows Edit Adoption Settings at the top and the title Adoption Settings.

Edit parameters and review the preview

  1. Update the parameter fields. Depending on the standard, you may see:

    • Yes/No toggles

    • Dropdown choices

    • Staff group selectors

    • Free text inputs

  2. Review the Default Owner section if you want to change who is pre-filled as the owner on requirements that have not been overridden individually. For help choosing between a site role and a direct user, see Set a default owner for a standard.

  3. The preview shows which requirements would be affected by the new parameter values. Review the impact before saving.

Confirm requirement re-inclusion

If your changes would bring previously out-of-scope requirements back into scope, a confirmation dialog appears before the save completes.

  1. Read the Confirm Requirement Re-inclusion dialog. It lists each affected requirement by code and title.

  2. The dialog explains that existing evidence links and role assignments on these requirements will be preserved.

  3. To proceed, click Confirm Re-inclusion. To cancel and keep the current parameters, click Cancel.

Confirmation is required before parameter-driven requirements return to in scope. If you do not confirm, the parameter changes are not saved.

Save the updated settings

  1. After reviewing the preview and confirming any re-inclusion prompt, click Save Settings.

  2. The updated parameters are applied to the standard.
