Asset Blocks
Asset blocks attach structured data to assets, asset models, and asset classes. Each block type stores a specific set of fields—warranty dates, insurance policy details, vehicle registration, serial numbers, costs, and assignments. You add blocks from the asset detail page or asset model page depending on the block type.
Instance Blocks
These blocks are added to individual asset instances and record data specific to that unit.

Assignment Block
The Assignment block tracks who is responsible for an asset. You can assign an asset to a person, a group (also called a team), or both at once.
How to Assign an Asset
Open the asset from Premises > Assets
In the Asset Blocks section, click Add Block and select Assignment
In the Person field, select an individual, or leave it empty
In the Group field, select a team, or leave it empty
Save the assignment
At least one of the two fields must be filled. The current assignee appears in the asset record. If you select both a person and a group, and the person is not a member of that group, the form warns you before saving.
How to Reassign or Unassign an Asset
Change responsibility when a person leaves, a team changes, or the asset changes hands.
Open the asset and find the Assignment block
Click Edit assignment
Change the Person and/or Group fields, or clear both fields to unassign
Save your changes
Reassigning closes the previous assignment period and starts a new one. Unassigning—by clearing both fields—closes the current assignment period without a new assignee. The assignment history records both the person and group for each period.
How to Review Assignment History
The Assignment History section lists past assignment periods with start and end dates for each assignment. Each entry shows the assigned person and group when both were set.
How to Delete the Assignment Block
You can delete the Assignment block only when there is no current assignee (no person and no group) and no history entries. Remove the current assignment and clear history before deleting this block.
Definition Blocks
These blocks are added to asset models (definitions) and apply to all instances of that model.

Asset Class Blocks
These blocks are added to asset classes and help classify equipment across the class.

Automatically Managed Blocks
Energy Readings appears on asset instances when the Dexma integration is active. You cannot add it manually; readings are managed automatically by the integration.
How to Add a Block
Open the asset, asset model, or asset class where you want to add the block
Find the Asset Blocks section and click Add Block
Select the block type and fill in the fields
Save the block
Only block types relevant to the current context appear in the list. For example, UK Vehicle and Warranty blocks are available for asset instances, while Manufacturer blocks are available for asset models.
Attach files while creating or editing a block
Supported asset blocks—Warranty, Insurance, UK Vehicle, and Lease—include a File Attachments section. You can upload files when you create the block or edit it later. Files are attached to the block and inherit its QR scan visibility.
