Asset Disposals must be enabled for your organisation, and you need at least the Member role for the Premises module. If the feature is not enabled, the page shows that asset disposals are not enabled for this organisation. Ask your organisation administrator to enable it and confirm your Premises role.
Create and complete an asset disposal job
Create a disposal job in Premises > Asset Disposals, add eligible assets, record collection details and evidence, then complete the job to mark those assets as Disposed. You need the Manager or Admin role for the Premises module. Members can view jobs but cannot create or change them.
Asset Disposals must be enabled for your organisation. If you open the page and see that it is not enabled, ask your organisation administrator.

Create a disposal job
A new job starts in Draft with an auto-generated Reference.
Go to Premises > Asset Disposals.
Click New Disposal Job.
CalmCompliance opens the job detail page. The job status is Draft, and the Reference is generated automatically (you can change it while the job stays in draft).
Set disposal details
On the Details tab, update fields in the Disposal Details section while the job is in Draft. Each field saves on its own when you confirm the inline edit.
Reference β job reference shown on the list and on disposed assets
Disposal Company β pick an active disposal company for the site (Select Company)
Collection Date β scheduled collection date
Notes β optional context for the job
Completed Date stays blank until the job is completed. Disposal companies come from the siteβs active company list; there is no create-company step on this page.
Add eligible assets
Add the assets you intend to dispose of from Linked Assets while the job is in Draft.
On the job detail page, open the Linked Assets section and click Add Assets.
Search by name, code, model, or serial if needed.
Select the assets, then click Add Selected.
Only eligible assets appear. Assets already marked Disposed, or already linked to another draft disposal job, are excluded. To take an asset off this draft job, use Remove on that row. The asset can be added to this or another draft job later.
Set outcome and data destruction
For each linked asset, you can set how it was handled before you complete the job. These values are optional for completion, but they appear on the assetβs Disposal Record after the job completes.
Outcome β Recycled, Destroyed, or Remarketed
Data Destruction β Physical Destruction, Software Wipe, Degaussing, or Other
Both fields stay editable only while the job is in Draft.
Upload collection evidence
Attach receipts or certificates of collection in Collection Evidence while the job is in Draft.
On the job detail page, open the Collection Evidence section.
Click Upload Evidence.
Select the file and upload it.
Evidence is not required to complete the job. After the job is completed or cancelled, this section is read-only.
Complete the disposal job
Completing a draft job marks every linked asset as Disposed and locks the job. This cannot be undone.
Confirm the job has an active Disposal Company and at least one linked asset. Missing items are listed under Resolve these items before completing:.
Click Complete Job.
In Complete Disposal Job, confirm with Complete Job.
After completion:
The job status changes to Completed and the job becomes read-only.
Every linked asset status changes to Disposed. Disposed assets stay in the register and cannot be edited.
Each linked asset shows a Disposal Record card with Disposal Company, Job Reference, Completed Date, Outcome, and Data Destruction.
Cancel a draft disposal job
Cancel a draft job if you no longer need it. Linked assets are left unchanged.
Open the draft disposal job.
Click Cancel Job.
In Cancel Disposal Job, confirm with Cancel Job.
The job status changes to Cancelled and the job becomes read-only. Assets on the job are not marked Disposed.
What you can change by job status
Only draft jobs can be edited. Completed and cancelled jobs stay available for viewing.
Action | Draft | Completed or Cancelled |
|---|---|---|
Edit disposal details | Yes | No |
Add or remove linked assets | Yes | No |
Upload collection evidence | Yes | No |
Complete or cancel | Yes | No |
View the job and linked assets | Yes | Yes |
Completed and cancelled jobs cannot be reopened. Create a new disposal job if you need to dispose of more assets.
How disposed assets appear in the register
Disposed assets remain on Premises > Assets with status Disposed. Open the asset to view the Disposal Record card and the rest of its history. For broader asset record guidance, see Asset Management.
Common questions
Why can I not see Asset Disposals?
Why is an asset missing from the picker?
The picker only lists eligible assets. Assets already marked Disposed, or already linked to another draft disposal job, do not appear. Remove the asset from the other draft job first, or choose a different asset.
Why can I not complete the job?
You need an active Disposal Company and at least one linked asset. The completion dialog lists any missing items under Resolve these items before completing:. Collection date, evidence, outcome, and data destruction are not required to complete.
Can I reopen a cancelled or completed job?
No. Create a new disposal job instead.
What happens to work order history when an asset is disposed?
Historical work orders stay on the asset record. Completing a disposal does not remove that history.
