Timeline
The Timeline shows when recurring work is scheduled across the horizon, and which dates already have a work item and which are still forecast. Open it from Operations > Timeline in the sidebar (the order is Work, Checklists, Library when enabled, Timeline, Parts, Team, Insights). You need the Operations Member role or higher to view it. If you do not have access, the page shows You do not have permission to view routines. Bookmarks and links that pointed to the previous schedules page redirect here automatically.
A future date on the Timeline does not necessarily mean a work item already exists. Occurrences scheduled ahead of creation render as dashed Forecast bars until work is created.
Read the timeline
The Timeline is a Gantt-style chart: each row tracks a routine, and each bar is one scheduled occurrence. The default view covers a 24-month horizon: the previous and current calendar years. When rows are grouped by Routine, the range runs from three months back through the end of next year instead.
Solid bars are real work items, shown as Open or In Progress. You can find them under Work.
Dashed, muted bars labelled Forecast (in some views Forecast (Not Created)) are future occurrences that do not have a work item yet.
To change the zoom level, group the rows, jump to today, or show workload lanes, see Use the Timeline controls.
Adjust a scheduled date
When your permissions allow it, a bar offers Assign and Move Date, so you can reassign work or reschedule an occurrence directly from the chart.
Click the bar for the occurrence. On a forecast bar, this opens a popover.
Choose Move Date to reschedule the occurrence, or Assign to set who does the work.
Choose View to open the routine and the scheduled date. This opens the routine and date rather than an occurrence editor.
Empty states
Two messages can replace the chart, and each means something different:
No Work Matches These Filters — your filters exclude every row, so no work is shown.
Nothing Scheduled in This Horizon — nothing is scheduled in the visible period. To add recurring work, see Create a routine with AI or from scratch.
Create a routine from the Timeline
If you have the Manager or Admin role in Operations, a Create Routine action sits in the page header and opens the routine creation flow. See Create a routine.
Turn a forecast into real work
Open a forecast occurrence to see its details and, when you have permission, create the work item from it. Once created, the bar shows the real work item's status.
Viewing a single routine
When the Timeline was opened with a routine pre-selected, a banner tells you whether you are seeing one selected routine or the routines selected in Overview. Use Show All Routines to return to the full timeline.
Team capacity
Team-level capacity planning and workload balancing are not generally available yet. To see each person's load, group rows by Assignee and turn on Show Workload Lanes.
